Johanna, a native of Connecticut, was raised in a family with a strong equine background - her mother being a horse show judge, and her father an equine veterinarian. Growing up, Johanna received instruction from renowned trainers such as Andre Dignelli, Linda Langmeier, and Missy Clark, and competed extensively in the junior ranks. Her impressive junior career included championship titles in hunters, jumpers, and equitation throughout the East Coast, as well as a top ten finish in the USEF Showing Jumping Talent Search Finals and Reserve Champion in USEF Junior Hunter Finals, among other notable achievements.
